Leonhard Med Secure Scientific Platform
The Leonhard Med Secure Scientific Platform service offers specialized solutions for the secure handling of strictly confidential and confidential data. The service gives access to a secure research IT platform, Leonhard Med, for secure transfer, storage, management and analysis of strictly confidential and confidential data. The service covers the entire research data life cycle, supporting the steps from data collection to eventual archival.
The users are given access to tenants – virtualized computing environments – that are isolated from each other using different virtualization approaches and advanced organizational and technical security measures. Data transfers into and out of the tenant are subject to fulfilling strict technical and regulatory requirements summarized in the Leonhard Med Acceptable Use Policy and Service Level Agreement documents. However, outside the specific security-related demands and limitations, the environment provides similar services and user experience as typical HPC systems.
The overall added value of the service is enabling and streamlining research using confidential data. The service supports the complete data lifecycle and offers cutting-edge computational solutions for data science, bioinformatics and statistics. Use of Leonhard Med supports compliance with the FAIR data principles as well as with the ETH Zürich Guidelines for Research Integrity. Furthermore, the tenants can be customized to address specialized use cases, with a range of pricing options available for these services.
The specific aspects and components of the Leonhard Med benefits are: (i) security as service, i.e. compliance with Swiss and ETH regulations to protect the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of data, (ii) FAIR data and computing environment for strictly confidential and confidential data, (iii) flexible research platform that can be tailored to specific research needs and (iv) collaborative research environment for ETH internal and external users.
The intended customer groups include: individual research groups, mixed research-clinical research projects and consortia, research programs and technology platforms and it is offered to members of the ETH Zürich (ETH-internal) based on conditions that are specific to “internal” customers.
Additionally, the service may be offered to customers that are not members of the ETH Zürich – so-called “ETH-external” users – that includes e.g. academia, hospitals, national and regional research programs. The service can also be used for specialized use cases, such as digital clinical trials, clinical decision support, applications not related to research (subject to specific rules).
The current pricing and subscription options are listed in the price model.
